MUMBAI, July 23: The slow corridor on the Central Railway was out of operation for over three hours during peak traffic this morning after the railway workers’ special local from Kalyan to CST was involved in a freak accident.

The 5.17 am special local was crossing tracks from platform no. 1 to the slow corridor toward CST before the railway bridge when the overhead wire got entangled in the pentagraph and snapped.

"Since the train was going over the tracks leading to platform two and three the entire slow corridor was blocked," pointed out a railway official at the spot. The track could be restored back for service by 9.10 am. Frantic commuters along the stretch including Thane, Ambernath, Badlapur and Karjat stations were inconvenienced.
