VADODARA, Feb 17: Four of the six people named in the FIR registered after prominent city-based builder Upendra Patel was shot on February 10 moved the sessions court on Wednesday seeking anticipatory bail. A case under Sections 307 and 120-B had been registered naming them in the Sayajigunj police station.

Talking to Express Newsline, advocate Kaushik Bhatt said that he filed an application for anticipatory bail on behalf of Dandia Bazaar resident Himanshu Desai, Vishwas Colony, Alkapuri, resident Arvind D Jani, Jayanand Society, Alkapuri, resident Kirtikant T Soni and Ellora Park resident Jayesh Dave. The hearing for the anticipatory bail will be held on Friday.

It may be recalled that the Detection of Crime Branch of the Vadodara Police Commissionerate had sent summons to all the six people named in the FIR under Section 160 of the CrPC on Tuesday.

According to official information, while Goverdhanji Haveli resident Rohit N Shah, who had also been named in the FIR, was yet to approach the police despite the summons, the sixth person, Mumbai resident Rajendra Desai, appeared before the police on Monday. His statements are still being recorded.

The police is yet to record statements of Patel, who is still undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital. A couple of his associates, however, have given their statements to the police.
