The Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) police have arrested four more members of the nickel thieves’ gang. This gang, which is involved in thefts of costly raw material from local factories, has been giving sleepless nights to the factory owners and the police.According to the police, the arrested persons belong to the gang of infamous gangster Chanderma. The arrested members have been identified as Sintu Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Santosh Mahato, Uma Shankar Pandey. Giving details, CIA in-charge Inspector Gurbans Singh Bains said the accused were arrested on November 12. They were in police remand with the CIA till now. He said the accused were sent to judicial custody as their police remand ended today.Bains said the gang members were arrested from the rearside of a petrol pump in Transport Nagar. He said that these gang members were arrested on the basis of secret information but their accomplice Jata Shankar managed to give the slip to the police. Bains said that during their questioning, the arrested gang members had confessed to their involvement in nearly 20 incidents of theft from the factories in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Mandi Gobindgarh. SP (Detective) Gurpreet Singh Toor told Newsline, “The Chanderma gang was involved in dozens of thefts at the factories in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Khanna, Mandi Gobindgarh and some other cities of the state. The gang members are so brutal that they had even killed a watchman while committing robbery in a factory in the city last year.”
