NAGERCOIL, JULY 3: The first leg of the AAFI international athletic meet was a low profile one as no national record was bettered or equalled at the clay track of the Ann Stadium here today.
The track was far from conducive for top grade performance and adding to the poor state of affairs was the confusion and delay in getting the results.Of the foreign participants, only Kenya and Sri Lanka made their presence felt with gold medal winning performances.
There was also cheers for Indian campers with Shakti Singh (discus), H Bikramjit Singh (javelin), Shakti Singh (shot put) and Ram Murti (long jump) winning gold in their respective events in the men’s section.
