With five days left to prove his majority on the floor of the House, Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh, whose coalition government is on the brink, tonight met Congress president Sonia Gandhi here along with a host of senior party leaders.
Singh, who had earlier said he wished to quit but was waiting for a nod from the Congress leadership, met Sonia Gandhi at the special cottage in Gachibowli stadium, venue of the Congress plenary session, party sources said.
Singh arrived here around 7.30 pm and the meeting took place around 9 pm. There was no official word on what transpired at the meeting which took place amid reports that Sonia Gandhi planned to hold talks with JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda after the plenary session. Gowda’s son H D Kumaraswamy has revolted against Dharam Singh and joined hands with the BJP to form an alternate government.
