Senior police officer and physics mentor Abhyanand today announced the closer of Super 30, a coaching institute that had become a gateway to IIT for poor students. The announcement came after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar felicitated Bihari students who made it to the IITs this year.

Talking to reporters, the police officer said he and mathematician Anand Kumar had decided to close down Super 30 on “moral grounds” after three successful students from the institute claimed that they had studied elsewhere. He said that some other coaching institutes in a bid to tarnish his image had lured the three students away. Interestingly, the Chief Minister felicitated the three students in question. The now famous institute started by Additional DG Abhyanand and Kumar provided free boarding and coaching to talented poor students who could not afford to pay hefty fees. This year, 28 out of 30 students of the institute had cleared the IIT entrance exam.

Insiders said the real reason behind the closure was linked to the ongoing disturbances in the police headquarters of the state.
