NEW DELHI, November 6: Former Union minister Krishna Kumar was today granted interim bail by Additional Session Judge Sharda Aggarwal in a Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA) violation case.Krishna Kumar, who was produced in court, was granted bail on medical grounds up to December 7, 1998.The Additional Session Judge while passing her order said: ``I deem it appropriate to extend the interim bail for another month on the same terms and conditions, that is, on his earlier personal bond which had been executed for the sum of Rs 5 lakh as the accused would not be able to come to court, since he is stated to be admitted in hospital''.Krishna Kumar was granted bail last month on October 13 on the same grounds. The medical reports prepared by an All India Institute for Medical Sciences doctor was read out in the courtroom today. Kumar's counsel informed the Additional Session Judge that the accused had suffered another heart-attack on the intervening night of October 29 and 30.A certificate issued by the doctor of Ashlok hospital was presented to the judge which pointed out that the accused was required to undergo an operation today at the Escorts Heart Institute under the care of Dr Ashok Seth.The former minister had reportedly received Rs 1.1 crore in remittances from sources in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Krishna Kumar's brother-in-law, residing in Dubai, apparently told the court that he had remitted the amount ``as a gift'' on the behest of the accused. The money was allegedly transferred to Krishna Kumar's account in Dubai.
