A day after the CBI arrested two former J-K ministers — G.A. Mir and Raman Mattoo — in connection with much publicised sex abuse scam, the state’s former additional advocate-general Anil Sethi surrendered before Second Additional Munsiff Judge Amit Sharma here this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the J-K government said it will hand over the two previous sex abuse cases registered in 2004 to the CBI. This is being done on the order of the J-K High Court, which passed an order today on the issue.

“Yes, we will abide by the Court ruling,” J-K Law Minister and Deputy CM Muzaffer Hussain Beig said.

The HC had said the two cases of 2004, registered in Srinagar and Budgam, should be reinvestigated. The court also cancelled the bail of all the accused in the cases.

After Sethi surrendered, the judge directed the Jammu senior superintendent of police to produce Sethi before the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Srinagar during that period. He was immediately taken into custody by SP North, Sanjay Kotwal. Police did not say where he was taken.

Sethi visited the courts’ complex at Janipura around 3.50 pm — over two hours after all other courts had closed for the day— and surrendered before the duty magistrate.

This is the second time the former additional advocate-general has landed in trouble. Earlier he was caught on video, demanding graft from an accused in a rural electrification scam.
