Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi was today directed by a Shahdol court to appear before it on October 16 in a forgery case filed by BJP MP Dalpat Singh Paraste.
The chief judicial magistrate issued the summon notice to Jogi on Paraste’s allegation that the Congress leader had produced a forged Scheduled Tribe certificate to contest the 1999 Lok Sabha elections from Shahdol reserved constituency.
Meanwhile, Jogi said he was unaware of the court orders but declared that he would soon file an appeal in the Madhya Pradesh High Court against the order. ‘‘This comes as a surprise to me. I will wait and see what this order is and file an appeal against it. But a similar case was also filed in MP HC…the court not only dismissed the complaint but also imposed Rs 10,000 crore fine on the complainant,” the CM said.
