SHILLONG, APRIL 11: Meghalaya Home Minister T H Rangad today said his government issued strict orders to the police and para-military forces to abide by human rights norms while conducting raids and search operations.The Minister was replying to a call attention motion by Independent member P M Syiem on reports of alleged atrocity by the CRPF while conducting raids in upper Shillong area of Mawphlang and Mawngap recently, as published in a section of press.Rangad said that securitymen should exercise restraint while conducting raids and orders had been issued so that local police accompanied paramilitary forces whenever raids were conducted.The Home Minister however denied that the CRPF created panic in Mawphlang and Mawngap during the raid and stated that only one youth was roughed up by securitymen when he tried to flee. But no one was arrested.
