LONDON, June 14: Six weeks into his new job, Labour Party leader Tony Blair says he has trouble remembering that he really is the Prime Minister of Britain.

“I used to wake up when we first started and even occasionally now and read something in the papers saying the Prime Minister has done such and such and think, “Oh, hang on. That’s me,” Blair said in an interview that appeared yesterday in the Birmingham Evening Mail newspaper.

“When (Deputy Prime Minister) John Prescott made an announcement the other day… I first heard it as I was waking up and I was lying there thinking, “I wish we had thought of that.” Then I suddenly realised that we had,” he said.

Blair, whose Labour Party won by a landslide in the May 1 election, also revealed that the Spice Girls can be heard all the time at 11 Downing Street, which the Blairs have made their home.
