PUNE, Nov 17: The ambitious project prepared by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for metropolitan Pune envisages construction of 11 fly-overs in Pune, five in Pimpri-Chinchwad and one in Khadki together at an estimated cost of Rs 349 crore.In addition, the project includes seven railway over bridges - five in Pimpri-Chinchwad and two in Pune at an estimated cost of Rs 79 crore and two bridges over rivers in Pune at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore.All these fly-overs and railway over bridges are expected not only to streamline the flow of heavy vehicles still entering the metropolitan Pune segregating it from local vehicular traffic, but also considerably ease the traffic situation in the metro where the auto vehicle population is growing at a phenomenal pace without corresponding increase in the road space.The proposed 11 fly overs in PMC area are:At Mundhwa, 510 meters in length, eight meters in width for Rs 10 crore;At Hadapsar, 510 meters in length, eight meters in width for Rs 10 crore;At Seven Loves chowk on Shankerseth Road, 875 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 28 crore;At Swargate, 875 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 28 crore;At Engineering college (COEP), 510 meters in length, eight meters in width for Rs 10 crore;At Pune Railway Station, 905 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 25 crore;At Wadia College junction, 685 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 25 crore;In front of Hotel Blue Diamond, 510 meters in length, eight meters in width, for Rs 10 crore;In front of Gunjan Theatre on Ahmednagar Road, 480 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 15 crore;Near Shashtri Nagar on Ahmednagar Road, 615 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 23 crore;At Chandan Nagar, 510 meters in length, eight meters in width, for Rs 10 crore.The one in Khadki Cantonment will be:In front of All Saints' School on Mumbai-Pune highway, 300 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 10 crore.The five in PCMC are:At Nashik Phata, including a railway over bridge and bridge over the Pavana river, 880 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 50 crore;In front of Pimpri Railway Station on Mumbai-Pune highway, 880 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 20 crore;In front of Chinchwad Railway Station on Mumbai-Pune highway, 510 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 20 crore;Near Khandoba Mandir in Akurdi on Mumbai-Pune highway, 510 meters in length, 16 meters win width, for Rs 20 crore;At Nigdi on Mumbai-Pune highway, 510 meters in length, 16 meters in width, at Rs 20 crore.The proposed railway over bridges are:Widening of the existing bridge in Dehu Road making it 600 meters in length, eight meters in width, for Rs six crore;At Transport Nagar in Pimpri-Chinchwad New Town (Pradhikaran), 780 meters in length, 16 meters in width, for Rs 15 crore;Widening of the existing bridge leading to Chinchwad downtown making it 900 meters in length, eight meters in width, for Rs nine crore;Ner JG Glass in Pimpri, 900 meters in length, eight meters in width, for Rs nine crore.Two bridges over Mula - Holkar bridge in Khadki Cantonment and at Aundh, both of which are old, narrow and of low height, will be replaced by new ones. Each will be 250 meters in length and 20 meters in width, the estimated cost for each being Rs 10 crore.Toll will be collected at five places from vehicles entering the metropolitan Pune at Loni on Pune-Hyderabad national highway (Solapur road), Chandan Nagar on Pune-Aurangabad state highway (Ahmednagar road), Dehu Road Cantonment on Mumbai-Pune-Bangalore national highway, Moshi on Pune-Nashik national highway and at Udyog Nagar near the railway crossing on Pune-Saswad road.At present, it is proposed that heavy vehicles will have to pay a toll of Rs 30 per entry and cars or jeeps Rs 15. Two wheelers will pay no toll.
