CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: National Integration Day was observed in the City today to mark the birth anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.Local Congressmen gathered at the the Sector 35 Congress Bhawan and at Indira colony, Palsora, where the party leaders paid floral tributes to the departed leader and remembered her contributions to national integration.The party leaders and workers pledged to follow the footsteps of Indira Gandhi to help strengthening the party. Among others who addressed the gathering include Chandigarh Territorial Congress general secretary Gurbachan Singh.Meanwhile, at a separate function at the UT Secretariat, the Adviser to UT Administrator administered the pledge to the employees to work for prosperity and integrity of the nation. Chandigarh Housing Board chairperson Meenakshi Dutta Ghosh, Finance Secretary G. Vajralingam, MC Commissioner S.K. Gathwal, chief architect S.K. Midha and Inspector General of Police R.P. Singh were also were present on the occasion. At another function in Sector 31, District Congress Committee (Urban) vice-president Balbir Singh and Mazdoor Sudhar Sabha president Ram Avtar paid rich tributes to Indira Gandhi.
