Her latest film Janasheen may have flopped, but Bollywood starlet Celina Jaitley is a popular woman when it comes to campaigning for Congress.

From across the country, PCC chiefs have written in saying they want Celina to campaign in their states. So far former Miss India Celina has been slated to make appearances to draw the crowds in 14 states. ‘‘She is a young actress. So everyone wants her to campaign in their states,’’ said AICC secretary Maj. Dalbir Singh. Though she is yet to make her mark in Bollywood, her future on the political horizon looks bright.

Last month, all the states were sent a list of stars who were available for campaigning. The list included Moushumi

Chatterjee, Padmini Kolhapure, Zeenat Aman, Shakti Kapoor, Govinda, Asrani, Namrata Shirodkar, Sharad Kapoor, Mahima Chowdhary and Celina.

Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharastra, Punjab, Uttaranchal, West Bengal, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and even Lakshadweep — all want Celina to campaign there. But like everything is politics even sending out stars is not as easy as it sounds. ‘‘Even for sending out stars, we calculate the caste combinations and see where they are popular,’’ said Singh.

Of 34 states and Union Territories, 23 have responded to the star list. So even though Govinda will be busy fighting Union Minister Ram Naik in Mumbai North, he will also campaign for the Congress in Haryana, UP, Maharastra, MP and Lakshadweep.

The most star-struck state for the Congress is Andhra Pradesh with Moushumi, Padmini Kolhapure and Shakti Kapoor campaigning here.
