SRINAGAR, Feb 8: Five members of a family were killed in a powerful bomb blast at Chattergul Ganderbal early today while elsewhere in the Valley eight militants and a village defence committee (VDC) member were among 12 people killed during the past 24 hours. Official sources told UNI that a powerful bomb blast took place in the house of one Mehboob Shah at Chattergul Ganderbal, on the outskirts of this city early today morning. Later, the bodies of Shah and his family members Shareefa, Rukhsana, Farida and Sajjad were recovered from under the debris.Villagers who protested against the incident alleged that security forces and their agents are responsible for the blast as one of the members of Shah's family was an activist of the outlawed Hizbul Mujahideen. The villagers further alleged that the forces also captured Ghulam Qadir Shah, another member of the same family, recently.
