Five girls were killed and four persons injured after a boundary wall of a temple collapsed, police said.

Five girls were killed and four persons injured after a boundary wall of a temple collapsed, police said.

The girls had come to Gopnath Temple in Talaja taluka in Bhavnagar district to offer prayers to mark the beginning of Hindu holy month ‘Shravan’, they said.

Police said that the boundary wall of the temple was old and might have collapsed due to incessant rains that lashed the city for last two days.

Four girls died on the spot whereas one girl died while being transported to the hospital, police said.

The injured who have been shifted to Bhavnagar civil hospital include three girls and a man.

A case of accident has been registered and further investigations are on.
