VADODARA, July 5: Six youths from the city on Saturday took off on a Motorcycle Expedition '98, to Ladakh, organised by Baroda Nature Lovers Club to mark 50 years of India's Independence. The expedition aims at spreading awareness about environment and protection of natural resources involving youngsters.Group leader Sandip Diwan, along with Vishesh Kavi, Felix Fernandes, Anil Gohil, Sanjeev Gohil, Raju Kahar, will cover 5000 km in 20 days, passing through eight states. The expedition will attempt to reach the world's highest road - the Khardungla Pass in Northern Kashmir - travelling through the treacherous mountain passes of Rohtang, Keylong and Kunzun in the Himalayas.Conducting talks using the audio-visual medium and distributing leaflets and stickers, the team will create environmental awareness among the youth and children living in remote corners and rural areas and the people living on the fringes of the national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.The expedition also aims to spread the message of national integration and foster the spirit of adventure and challenge among the future citizens.
