NEW DELHI, January 17: Five persons have been arrested on charge of planning a dacoity in the West Jyoti Nagar area of northeast Delhi. Their Maruti van has been seized along with country-made pistols, live cartridges, iron rods and iron cutters.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Muktesh Chandra said that the Station House Officer of the Shahdara police station received a tip-off about five persons having met at the DDA park on Loni Road with the intention to commit a dacoity at a brick kiln owner’s house. A police team was immediately formed and rushed to the area. They managed to arrest all the five men.

The five men have reportedly confessed to having committed several robberies in various parts of the Capital. This including the burglary at a leather jacket showroom in Connaught Place.
