A fitness trainer from Australia has been teaching new methods to players to stay fighting fit for the Indian Cricket League’s Twenty20 tournament.

Dearne, who also runs her own fitness studio in Melbourne, has been working with players, giving them tips on how to further improve their fitness levels.

“I have introduced them to Pilates, which is a set of exercises quite popular in Australia, UK and even USA.

“This form of exercise is especially aimed at strengthening abdominal and back muscles because in most form of sports these take more strain,” Dearne said in Chandigarh.

She said she had also been guiding players and re-assuring them on the fitness programmes they were already following.

“Among the Indian players featuring in the ICL, I have been happy to find that most of them are really fit. Their basic fitness levels are really impressive and they are highly motivated about what they are doing,” she said.

Dearne also gives them tips on following a healthy diet.
