FIR to be lodged against DGP Mohanty

The Rajasthan Government on Tuesday decided to lodge an FIR against Orissa DGP BB Mohanty for allegedly shielding his son who jumped parole a month ago after he was awarded life imprisonment for raping a German tourist. Home Minister Gulab Chand Katatia said the DGP had misled jail authorities and police while applying for parole for his son Biti Mohanty which expired on December 4 2006. He had said since Biti’s mother was ill his son should be granted parole, Kataria said. An FIR would be lodged at Lal Kothi police station here under whose jurisdiction the jail comes, Kataria added. Meanwhile, a court on Tuesday issued attachment of property proceedings against the DGP following his failure to honour the surety bond.
