NEW DELHI, May 7: The closing function to mark the end of the 50th anniversary of India8217;s independence should be symbolic of the joy of freedom and signal the country8217;s determination to march ahead.

This was decided at a meeting between minister of human resource development Murli Manohar Joshi and Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh. The thrust of the event will be to create a sense of belonging among the people of the country and instil in them a spirit of nationalism so that they see India as a strong and vibrant nation. It was decided that the event should be made an occasion to rejoice and also introspect and rededicate ourselves to the service of the nation. To project Asia8217;s Indian identity some cultural programmes from the Asian countries will be organsied by the ICCR.

The finale at Rajpath will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
