Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw seriously ill

The man who led India to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war is seriously ill and has slipped into a coma, sources said.

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who led India to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, is seriously ill, military hospital sources said on Thursday.

94-year-old Manekshaw, the country’s first Field Marshal, who has been undergoing treatment in the hospital in Wellington for the last few months, slipped into coma on Wednesday evening, the sources said.

Though there is no official word, the hospital sources said his condition is critical.
