FARIDABAD, December 3: The anticipatory bail petition of Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner Mukesh Ghambhir was rejected today by a district court today. Following a raid at his residence last week, Ghambhir had been charged with possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income. Apprehending arrest, Ghambhir had moved a petition seeking anticipatory bail last week. However, the sessions judge had transferred the case to the court of Additional District and Session Judge (ADJ) P.K. Goyal. “In a day or two we will move to the Punjab and Haryana High Court for anticipatory bail,” said Suresh Sharma, counsel for Ghambhir.
Ghambhir was recently transferred to Chandigarh, after he was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
