CHANDIGARH, July 8: The mortal remains of Sepoy Rakesh Kumar, killed in action in the Turtuk sector on July 5, was sent to his native place, Kachpalabi village near Hamirpur today.

Belonging to the 27 Rajput Regiment, his body had been airlifted here from the battle front last evening and kept overnight at the Command Hospital, Chandinmandir for embalming.

Tributes were paid to the 21-year-old fallen soldier and wreaths were laid by Army officers before the body was despatched to his home place.
