RAJKOT, Aug 19: The Bhakti Movement can play a major role in today’s context when the country is facing multiple problems. Bhakti as a medium, has a solution to all socio-political problems.
This was stated by eminent Hindi scholar Raghu Nath Bhatt here on Wednesday. Bhatt is currently visiting the Saurashtra University and delivered a lecture on the Bhakti Kaal to the students.
He said Bhakti has provided the country with the concepts of liberalism. Even the concept of fraternity and equality have been propagated by the Bhakti Andolan in the country. It is one of the forces which has not allowed casteism to block development for the past several decades.
Bhatt pointed out that although Bhakti is not a part of the present Hindi literature like it used to be during the Medieval period, it is a continuing movement which will continue till man pose confidence in a force to whom he is responsible for his deeds.
Talking about Hindi, he said the language should be practised at all levels and should be introduced in educational institutions as a medium of instruction, particularly in the streams of Arts and Commerce. He related that the project on these lines known as Rashtrabhasa Vanijya and Vinaya Mahavidyalaya in Ahmedabad has been a great success.
Bhatt is presently looking after the affairs of the Hindi Sahitya Academy and Hindi Sahitya Parishad after serving as the principal of an educational institution at Degam.
Referring to the future plans of these two bodies, he disclosed that a demand has been made to carry on the interstate official work in Hindi while within the State matters be dealt with in regional language. That way both Hindi as a national language and the regional languages will grow. He rued that it is the will that is lacking on the part of the citizens to make Hindi a language for all sorts of communication.
