NAGPUR, JUNE 15: Nagpur’s Guardian Minister Nitin Gadkari today warned that disciplinary action would be taken against government officials responsible for denial of compensation to farmers in Kuhi tehsil.

A section of farmers in Kuhi tehsil, whose crops were damaged by unseasonable rains last year, were denied compensation from the State Government’s relief package. This had caused resentment among farmers in Kuhi tehsil. A further delay would have turned it into a major issue.

The issue was taken up by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s district unit vice president Balasaheb Desai and Kuhi Panchayat Samiti Chairman Astik Sahare.

Taking serious note of the matter, the minister convened a meeting of government officials in the city. He pulled up Kuhi tehsildar, block development officer,and agriculture officer for neglect of duty.

The affected farmers would soon get cash compensation and seeds, the minister announced, after speaking to the State Agricultural Commissioner Umesh Sarangi over the telephoneabout releasing the compensation amount to Kuhi farmers.

District Collector Malini Shankar, who attended the meeting, also held spoke to the agricultural commissioner about relief package and action against the erring officials.

The meeting was convened by the minister at Ravi Bhavan to discuss the issue.

It was attended by Kuhi Taluka Kisan Sangh president Ravindra Naik, Rambhau Pal, Narayanrao Vaidya, Nilkant Shahane, Balasaheb Desai, Astik Sahare, and other government officials.
