Ex-servicemen held for rape

The culprit, Peshwari Singh, 58, a retired Army captain presently working as a head clerk at the Board’s office, was caught “red handed” during the act.

The medical examinations of the victim has confirmed the rape and a case under Section 376 and 511 RPC has been registered. The victim who is a widow said Peshwari Singh had asked her to come to the office regarding the pension case of her late father who was an employee in the Army.

“On Tuesday, he told me that I must come to the office on Thursday to settle the pension case of my late father and to appoint me permanently. Yesterday morning, when I reached the office, He took me to a side room, where hegrappled me, when I resisted, he overpowered me, tore my clothes and raped me, ”she added. A police official said “when we reached the spot and forced our way into the room, she was weeping while the culprit was trying to console her. Her clothes were torn and Peshawari Singh was almost naked.”
