THRISSUR, July 20: Raids by police and administrative officials have thrown up evidence of large-scale pay-offs by Abkari contractors to various officials in Kerala's Thrissur district. The developments come close on the heels of the discovery of massive pay-offs in Pathanamthitta district recently. Incriminating documents and huge quantities of toddy and ingredients which go into the making of synthetic toddy were seized during the Thrissur raids. Nine persons were arrested, though the contractors suspected to be involved managed to escape.
