Commerce minister Kamal Nath termed European Commission’s trade commissioner Peter Mandelson’s fresh offer from the EU in the WTO negotiations as a ‘mixed bag’. The EU offered to reduce average agricultural tariffs by 46 per cent and to cut its highest agricultural tariff by 60 per cent, in the market access negotiations. However, Nath rejected the elements that seek to introduce a new concept of ‘advanced developing countries’ and also moots a single co-efficient for tariff reduction.

HPCL net loss at Rs 22.14 cr

: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd reported a net loss of Rs 22.14 crore for the quarter-ended September 2005 as compared to a profit of Rs 294.31 crore in the same period last fiscal. Total income has increased 24.65 per cent to Rs 16,943.82 crore for the quarter-ended September 30, 2005 from Rs 13,592.68 crore in the year-ago period.

BPCL posts Rs 203 crore loss

: Bharat Petroleum has reported a net loss of Rs 203 crore for Q2 this fiscal compared to a profit of Rs 321.4 crore in the year-ago period. Total income, however, rose 20.5 per cent to Rs 16,353.6 crore for the quarter.

Jet Airways net dips 11.40 pc

: Jet Airways has reported a 11.40 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 68.59 crore for the quarter -ended September 2005.
