Thousands of teachers, under the banner of ETT Teachers’ Union, Punjab, today held protests at several places in Bathinda, demanding the transfer of Zila Parishad-run schools to the state Education department.

The agitators also aired the CDs of the “promises made to them” by Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Badal during the 2007 Assembly polls in the state and threatened to intensify their struggle by airing the CDs in different villages if their demands were not met.

In the evening, senior vice-president of the union Jagseer Singh Sahota alleged that some jeep-borne miscreants attacked the buses, in which the protesters had arrived, near Bathinda Cantonment.
