
MUMBAI, May 4: Vasai Eskimos stroked out Royal Sports Club 5-3 via tie-breaker to cross the first hurdle in the Bhiwandiwala Cup hockey tournament at the Niagaum Police ground, today.
Both teams were locked 1-1 at full-time.
Irfan put the Eskimoes ahead but Timmy Aguiar equalised. Scorers for Vasai Eskimoes in the tie-breaker were: Mohan Bhaskar, Ifran, Samson Pinto and Thomas Anthony. Neville Jadhav and Navin Bhengre were the only successes for Royal.
Earlier in another first round match, Ashlin Furtado’s strike enabled Rebel Sports Club beat HOC 1-0.
RCF `B’ failed to turn up for their match against Sachivalaya Gymkhana. ANIRUDH, TEJASWI SUPREME: D Anirudh (Khar Gymhana) and Tejaswi Shetty claimed the men’s and women’s group titles at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG) swimming championships.
