CHANDIGARH, June 4: An "anti-nuke" peace march was organised by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthic), Punjab Janta Morcha and the Internationalist Democratic Party here today.
Participants in the march, which started from the Sector 19 gurdwara, demanded elimination of nuclear weapons and steps to improve relations with Pakistan
In a memorandum to the Punjab Governor, they said that while the international trend was towards peace and cutting down defence expenditure, India had isolated itself and gone in for nuclear testing, which was followed by Pakistan. The memorandum was signed among others by Jasvir Singh Khalsa, president of SAD (Panthic), Gianchand, general secretary of Punjab Janta Morcha, Kheta Singh of the Internationalist Democratic Party, Khalsa Conference president Satwant SIngh Anandpuri and Ajit Singh Bains, chairman of the Punjab Human Right Commission.
