CHANDIGARH, April 20: A day-long dharna was staged in front of the DPI Office, Punjab, by the employees of aided schools from Jalandhar district to protest against the step motherly treatment.
In a joint press statement issued here today, Lashkar Singh Samra, vice-president and Manohar Lal Chopra, general secretary of the Punjab State Aided School Teachers and Other Employees Union condemned the Punjab government for withholding the release of Fourth Pay Commission scales for the aided school staff. The president of pensioner’s cell, K K Tandon and H M Bilga, state joint secretary, have warned the state government of dire consequences if their demands are not met. The responsibility for the disruption of 5 lakh students studying in these 500 schools shall be of the state government, they said.
