MUMBAI, OCT 29: Air-India and Elf Lubricants entered the semifinals of the Times Shield Division `A’ cricket tournament from Group `A’. Air-India topped the group with 15 points while Elf finished second on 14.

Elf’s victory today nudged out defending champions Tata Sports Club out of contention.

Sun-Grace Mafatlal’s match against Central Railway will decide the Group `B’ semi-finalists.

At the Mahalaxmi ground, Elf expectedly wrapped up the match, winning by an imposing 120 runs after Western resumed at their overnight 34 for five.

Air-India, overnight 219 for six at the Elf-Vengsarkar Academy Ground, were all out for 259. Tata Sports Club, 66 behind on the first innings, reached 217 for five, but fell way short of the target and a place in the semis.

Chasing 250 for a win, Western Railway reached three figures thanks to a crucial seventh-wicket partnership between Nitin Surve (45: 3×4, 2×6) and Nazir Khan (30) that yielded 75 runs.

At the RCF ground, Chembur, Indian Oil failed in their bid toscore 202 off 57 overs to sideline Central Railway in Group `B’.
