VADODARA, Nov 30: Soon after seven students and a teacher were injured when one of the walls of Pratik Tuition Classes, located on the second floor of a dilapidated building, collapsed at 6.50 am on Monday, the VMC issued a notice directing demolition of the room.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Administration) H S Patel told Express Newsline that the class-owner, Pikubhai Nagin Choksi, has also been asked to get certificate from the structural engineer. He further said the VMC would also issues notices to other classes operating from the first floors of dilapidated buildings. The class-owners would also be questioned whether they had obtained a permission for renovation, he added.
All the injured in today’s incident were taken to SSG Hospital and were discharged after treatment. According to the Wadi police, about 40 students attended the classes in the room. But on Monday, only seven student were present in the class as it was a morning batch, the police added.
Besides Choksi, the other injured are Dikshitaben Rohitbhai Desai (17), Payal Indravadan Shah (17), Krishnaben Harikrishna Patel (17), Hari Dinanath Shah (17), Gargi Arvindbhai Chowksi (17), Shraddha Gopaldas Shah (17) and Nitin Haribhai Patil (18).
