Amateur Boxing Association has decided to organise the 16th A K Misra Championship as an international meet from February 11 to 15, 2009 in the General Council Meeting (GMC) held in PML SD Public School, Sector 32 on Sunday. The A K Misra championship was previously played at all India level with participation of national and international boxers from India. Boxers from Mauritius and Nepal had earlier participated in the event three times. In the GMC, it was decided that 16 teams will be invited out of which eight should be foreign. The teams will be selected on the basis of results of the last senior Nationals and one host team from Chandigarh will also be selected. Olympian Vijender, Akhil and Jatinder will also be invited for the event.
