Secretary (Defence Production) Shekhar Dutt is likely to become the Defence Secretary when Ajay Vikram Singh retires on July 31.
Sources have said Official Languages Secretary Baleshwar Rai would take over as the new Secretary Coordination in the Cabinet Secretariat following P C Rawal’s superannuation today.
Chemical Secretary Pratyush Sinha is tipped to move to Rural Development, replacing N Shankar who also retired today. Consumer Affairs Secretary Satwant Reddy is likely to take Sinha’s place.
The transfers have reportedly been approved by PM Manmohan Singh but the government had issued no notification until late at night.
