Gandhinagar, June 7: The drop-out ratio of school students in Gujarat has come down to 29.8 per cent from 35 per cent last year, according to State Education Minister Anandiben Patel.

Some 50,000 drop-outs had again begun attending school after the State Government launched innovative schemes to draw them back to school, Patel told reporters here on Wednesday.

As part of the campaign to reduce the drop-out rate, 16,000 new classes were being started throughout the State and 14,000 teachers were slated to be appointed for this purpose, she said.

The new schools would start imparting computer education with installation of 1,000 computers there, the Minister said. Computers were also being installed in 52 teacher training colleges in the state, she said.
