Nov 2: Indian middle order batsman Rahul Dravid, should learn to rotate strike `consistently’ in one-dayers if he wants to cement his place in the One-Day team, according to former Test star Dilip Sardesai.

The former Test star who launched the Stanchart’s Cricket Card here today told PTI after the function that 20 runs off 60 balls was not a good effort by the Karnataka star in the Wills International Cup semi-finals against the West Indies at Dhaka which the latter won handsomely on Saturday.

“There is no doubt that Dravid is a class player with a fine technique but if he has to cement his place in One-Dayers and prove his critics wrong he should learn to rotate the strike like Micheal Bevan of Australia or South African skipper Hansie Cronje,” Sardesai said.

“Dravid played out two maiden overs which put the other Indian batsmen under pressure. The Indian skipper or the coach should sit down with him at the earliest and have a pep talk and help him regain his lost confidence,” he said.

When hewas reminded that Dravid has played a couple of good knocks against South Africa and Pakistan before he was dropped from the team, Sardesai said Dravid should try to be more consistent especially with the World Cup just round the corner.

“The media really raised a hue and cry in support of Dravid after the selectors overlooked him for a few limited overs tournaments and it is now in his (Dravid) hands to show to the world that he can perform consistently well in the smaller version of the game also,” Sardesai said.

“He is a great Test player and has come up with good knocks when the chips were down and I hope he can do the same in the one-dayers too,” he added.
