Ahead of the assembly elections later in 2008, faction-ridden ruling Congress in Delhi on Tuesday sought to project a united face as Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had a meeting with DPCC office-bearers after which she claimed there were no differences in the party.

Emerging from the two-hour meeting called to evaluate the report card of her government, Dikshit said elections were just a few months away and “we will work together to ensure Congress’ victory. There are no differences within the party.”

The meeting, she said, was called to bring in harmony between the government and the organization. Such meetings would be a regular feature, she added.

Agarwal claimed the meeting gave a critical appreciation of the government’s performance and there was ‘good cooperation’ from all members at the meeting.

“The progress report of the government was evaluated today and the office bearers were happy with its work. The areas where gaps exist are being filled in,” Agarwal said.

At the meeting, party workers discussed regularization issue of unauthorised colonies, delay in voter i-cards preparation, poor condition in state-run hospitals and BSP’s bid to make its electoral foray in the national capital.

Asked if soaring prices of essential commodities would be an election issue, Dikshit said the prices were well under control as far as basic needs of a common man are concerned.

Indicating that the party has got into the poll mode, Aggarwal said another such meeting would be convened next month with party MPs, MLAs and corporators to discuss election issues.
