NEW DELHI, November 24: As a parting shot, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee has written to the Election Commission alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party has brought anti-social elements into the Capital to ``create trouble'' during the election tomorrow. The Congress had organised 500 meetings in the run up to the elections which were addressed by Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Arjun Singh, Rajesh Pilot, Margaret Alva, N.D. Tiwari, Sheila Dikshit, Salman Kkhurshid, Sunil Dutt and Rajesh Khanna among others.Seeking an increase in security arrangements, the DPCC spokesman Brij Mohan said that Congress fears were confirmed by yesterday's arrest of six BJP workers accused of intimidating voters in Hauz Khaz, from where Chief Minister Sushma Swaraj is contesting.``We request adequate arrangements should be made tonight and tomorrow on polling day to keep the law and order situation under control,'' the DPCC said in its letter to the Election Commission. The Congress has urged the Lt. Governor, the Police Commissioner and the Election Commission to make all efforts to check such elements, Brij Mohan added.Asked if the party was not happy with the security arrangements made for tomorrow, Brij Mohan said: ``I cannot say that I am not happy. But there is need for greater vigilance. The problem should not be underestimated.'' Congress workers also were in an ``aggressive'' mood and would not allow any bogus voting, he added.Referring to Sushma Swaraj's swearing on the Bhagwad Gita to assert that neither she nor her husband had met alleged Dawood Ibrahim frontman Romesh Sharma, the Congress leader said this showed that her previous disclaimers did not carry much weight with the people.Claiming that the BJP campaign for the Assembly polls bordered on ``nautanki'' (drama), Brij Mohan said Swaraj would have carried greater credibility with the Capital's voters if she had resigned from her Lok Sabha seat.He added that while the BJP had tried to link the Congress with criminal elements, why did Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee not take cognizance of the fact that one of his own ministers, Maneka Gandhi, had ``deep political connections'' with Romesh Sharma, who was keenly involved with the Sanjay Vichar Manch.Brij Mohan claimed that the Congress rallies had drawn much bigger crowds than those addressed by BJP leaders.Meanwhile, the DPCC chief Shiela Dikshit has expelled Subhash Sharma, president of Mehrauli Block Congress Committee; Om Prakash Tanwar, general secretary, Ved Prakash Arya, secretary; and Janak Bhargava, organising secretary, of Mehrauli District Congress Committee.
