Abhishek Bachchan loves to watch superheroes fly. The actor tells us what8217;s special about Drona, his non-flying warrior
With Drona now released, what8217;s your state of mind
I8217;m excited. I have seen the film and liked it but now, it is for the audiences to decide Drona8217;s fate. Since I was emotionally attached to it, my judgment would be biased. But when people who were not attached to the the making of the film watch it they will judge it on the basis of how they liked it.
Supremo 8212; that was a character in a comic based on my dad. It used to come in the early 80s. I like Superman in films. He was my favourite superhero in childhood. I like superhero films. It is exciting to imagine that you can fly.
Which of these superheroes provided inspiration to you while playing Drona?
It was a beautiful character written by Goldie Behl. There was no inspiration as such because Drona is not a superhero. He can8217;t fly. He is a normal human being.
Did the comparisons with Krrish bother you?
Not at all. Krrish was a superhero. He had special powers. Drona doesn8217;t have such superhuman powers. Also, Hrithik Roshan is a very good friend. The three of us Goldie, Hrithik and I have been best friends since childhood.
What8217;s that special factor in Drona that will help you win over the audience?
The USP is that Drona is not a superhero. When you watch the film and come out of the theatre, you will have a feeling that even you can be like Drona. You will not be in awe of the character, the way you generally are while watching a Superman or a Spider-man film.
Will Drona help in continuing with the good run that started with Guru and was taken forward by Sarkar Raj?
I hope it does. We have made the film with a lot of effort. This is a very ambitious project for Goldie and me.
Your first film with Behl didn8217;t do well. What made you work with him?
He is a childhood friend. When he discussed this character with me, I really liked it.
Were you worried over Drona8217;s fate following MNS outrage?
Let bygones be bygones. We should look ahead and start with a fresh perspective.
What are your expectations from Dostana and Dilli 6?
Dostana is a comedy. Comedies are doing well. Dilli 6 is a fantastic film. I have wanted to work with Rakeysh Mehra for a long time. I was supposed to do my debut film with him but that didn8217;t work out. It8217;s nice to work with him finally.
When would we next see you and Aishwarya Rai on the big screen?
In Mani Ratnam8217;s film which is going on the floors soon.
