The EC on Saturday directed the Civil Aviation Ministry and Air India not to issue any free tickets to any category of persons on the ground that it contravened the model code of conduct. The EC’s direction comes following an Indian Express report on how the Narendra Modi government had directed the Ministry and Air India to issue air tickets to politicians and 23 local and 13 Delhi-based journalists for the Ahmedabad-London inaugural flight on March 28.
