Dr. Alan Colman, one of the scientists who helped create cloned sheep Dolly, will be one of the key speakers at Bangalore Bio 2003, the third annual biotechnology tradeshow, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Karnataka S.M. Krishna here on Tuesday.

Revealing this at a pre-event press conference, the organisers said Bio 2003 would be much bigger than last year’s show. ‘‘The number of exhibitors is 121, as compared to 70 last year,’’ said Vivek Kulkarni, Secretary, IT and BT, Government of Karnataka. ‘‘We also have the maximum number of sponsors this year,’’ he added.

Representatives from across 20 countries for the show are expected, which includes exhibits, conferences and other platforms for networking between industry professionals, researchers, government and common public. While the exhibits will be put up at Palace Grounds, the conferences are scheduled to be held at the J.N. Tata Auditorium, in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus.

The highlights of Bio 2003 include a CEO Conclave sponsored by Rabo India, where the Rabo Bio Business awards will be given out.
