KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12: Indian teenager Dingko Singh, who for two years in a row has been adjudged the best boxer at the National Championships, scored a fine win over Ghana's Alfred Tetteh in the round of 32 in the 54 kg category. Dingko is one of the four boxers India has brought here for the Commonwealth Games. Back home, Dingko often has the habit of playing to the gallery by dropping guard against weaker opponents. Here, he played it safe, rather than go all out and take chances against an unknown opponent.Dingko, winner of the gold medal in the flyweight class last year, won 11-8 on points in the five round competition.Dingko's next opponent in the pre-quarter finals will be a Ugandan teenager, Abdu Tebazalwa, who stopped his Kiwi rival Naoh Lopez in the third round. Ten boxers had a bye, while the remaining 12 had fight for six slots into the last 16.India's other challengers are Gurmeet Singh in 57kg and he will fight Australian James Swan, while Jitender Kumar (75kg) will meet Somoan FrancisPartsoh and Gurcharan Singh (81kg) will be up against Enroy Toney of St. Vincent Grenadene.
