NEW DELHI, Aug 17: Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) is planning a nationwide launch of the much awaited diesel Zen on August 21. The dispatch of the cars have already started to the other parts of the country two days ago, according to company sources. Delhi dealers, in fact, have been expecting to get the car tomorrow.

Though some dealers have been talking of making tentative bookings, it is not expected that Maruti will allow this in view of the nation-wide launch.The car which has a Peugeot 309 TUT8 engine is likely to cost Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-factory), approximately Rs 1 lakh extra from the petrol version, souces said and added that apart from the engine, the car have identical features as petrol Zen VX.

However, no one from the company’s marketing team was available to comment as they were engaged in a meeting of the regional manager held in the factory today.Some of the Maruti dealers in Delhi are expecting to get a sample car in a day or two. Says S P Khanna, general manager, Competent Motors "we areexpecting a car tomorrow, but there is still a doubt as the company has to carry out a simultaneous launch of the car throughout the country which will take another two to three days. Even if we do not get concrete instructions from the company on we will start tentative booking from tomorrow."
