VADODARA, March 31: With a rise in cases of diarrohoea at government as well as private clinics, health experts have stressed the need for preventive measures. There seems to have been a sharp increase in the cases of diarrohoea and other related diseases caused due to contaminated water and foodstuff in the slum areas, said Dr Kamal Jain, chief medical officer at an ESI dispensary at Pratapnagar and who is also secretary of the Vadodara unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA).``People should avoid consuming contaminated food'', he cautioned. Other ESI doctors said the number of such cases at 16 ESI dispensaries had also risen. The SSG Hospital doctors manning the departments of gastroentritis and medicines, however, said there was not a dramatic increase, though the number of patient was slowly rising.
