ISLAMABAD, DEC 27: Anil Khurana, who was released from the hijacked Indian Airlines jet yesterday in view of his failing health, was flown here today and rushed to hospital in a "very bad shape", hospital sources said.

The 45-year-old Khurana, a diabetic patient, was brought here this afternoon by a special UN plane from Kandahar and straightaway admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Shifa Hospital. "He is in a very bad shape" but out of danger, one of the doctors attending on him said.

Suffering from acute diabetes, Khurana is undergoing respiratory problem, but expected to stabilise by tomorrow, the doctor said.

Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan G Parthsarthy spoke to Khurana’s father and sister in New Delhi and assured them of his transfer to the Indian capital as soon as his condition stabilises.

Khurana was hysterical when he was brought here this morning. Though he did not say anything about the condition inside the plane.

He was taken out of the aircraft yesterday for medicaltreatment but returned to the Airbus as his brother-in-law is among the 154 passengers and crew still kept hostage.
