SAS NAGAR, Nov 1: Chasing a mammoth Punjab’s first innings total of 533 for 6 declared, Services were precariously placed at 76 for four on the second day of their four-day North Zone Ranji Trophy match at the PCA Stadium here today. Pankaj Maitrey and Sarabjit Singh were at the crease with three and eight runs respectively.

Sanjay Verma (17), Narender Singh (14), CD Thompon (11), Abu Eric (11) were back to the pavilion with Services struggling in the absence of their regular skipper Chinmoy Sharma. Punjab pacer Sandeep Sharma consumed openers Sanjay Verma and Narender Singh with Services’ total of 40. Bowling economically, Sandeep retuned the bowling analysis of 10-4-17-2.

Earlier, Punjab resuming at their overnight total of 334 for four, declared their innings closed at 533 for 6. Pankaj Dharmani, overnight 106, completed his double century and remained not out at 202. His 490-minute vigil at the crease was studded with 25 boundaries and one six in 384 deliveries.

This was his second double century. Earlier he had hit unbeaten 223 against Delhi at Amritsar in 1995-96.

Title for Rohtak
Yogis from Rohtak bagged overall title in the 15th Haryana State yoga championship which concluded here today at the Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula. Rohtak secured 8 points to win the trophy while Yamunanagar were runner-up with six points.

In the veteran section Panchkula with nine points were first while Jind with seven points took the second spot.

Prabha Chahal Trophy for best women’s team in the meet went to Yamunanagar.

Rajinder shines
Fine all-round performance by Rajinder (66 runs and 3 for 19) enabled High Court XI beat Punjab Engineering College Employees Cricket Club by 61 runs to win final match of the first Inter Govt/Financial Bank Employees cricket tournament yesterday. The winner and runner-up were given Rs 2100 and Rs 1100, respectively.
