Punjab Univ start in style

  • Punjab University, Patiala began their All India Inter-University Women’s Tennis campaign in style beating Bhartidasan University 2-0 at the Hindu College courts today.
  • Anju Nala Dhawan of Punjab University beat Leema Bose 6-0, 6-0 while Ishwinder Bling beat Sheeba Suresh 6-0, 6-0.

    Three matches ended in walk-overs. Panjab University, Chandigarh got a walk-over when Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam who failed to turn up. Mysore University got a walk-over against Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar while North Gujarat and Allahabad also failed to turn up for their match.

  • An unbeaten 112 by Sachin Sharma was the highlight of Lal Bahadur Shastri Coaching Centre’s eight-wicket victory over Shahdara Sports in the D division DDCA League at the Kotla No 2 ground on Tuesday.

  • Three Delhi cueists are among the probables for the coaching camp to select the team for the Asian billiards and snooker championships. They are Mukesh Rehani in billiards and Siddharth Anand and Manan Chandra in snooker. They will be attending the first of the three coaching camps to be held in Bangalore from February 5 to 19.
